Nature

I am currently in a place with a whole bunch of nature. As my event looms closer I can't miss a day of training so I generally get up around 5 AM and take a stroll. Well this morning I was walking in a very nice place. Flat, level, good sidewalks and no traffice (hey it was 5 AM you know). So there I was strolling around a small lake in the park nearby. I saw some frogs, a cat, and your usual assortment of crawly things. A couple of times I heard a splash and just figured that a fish was jumping or something like that. Well I turned a corner and ran smack into a sign saying "Beware Of Alligators". Oh Dear.....................

My Second Trip

After walking to honor Maybelle Loftin I was honored to walk for the future of little girls everywhere. I did pick two special little girls but as I walked for their future I believe I walked for little girls everywhere. H and SG have always been special to me. I want their future to be free of worry from the "beast" that I call breast cancer. These two young ladies are our future. We must cherishe them and protect them.
I walked for the little girls. I walked so they would not have to face the "beast" and hopefully their Moms would be protected also.
Somewhere in their toy boxes are small teddy bears that made my journey with me. Maybe one day I can explain to them why I do what I do.
H and SG, I love you.

My First Journey

My first walk was dedicated to the memory of Eunice Maybelle Loftin. She was an amazing woman whom unfortunately I never met but whose legacy lives on.
Maybelle was not what we would call an educated woman but she was very wise. She had a sense of right and wrong. She possessed a natural intelligence that one cannot pick up in any classroom. She was a kind and caring person to all but mostly she looked after children that needed to be protected. Maybelle took interest and looked out for her Grandchildren. She gave them a non-judgmental safe haven from their parents (her children) and taught them many valuable lessons.
Maybelle’s battle with breast cancer was not pretty. This was several years ago and she was subjected to what in a proper Southern Lady’s mind humiliating treatment regimens. She did go into remission but when the beast returned she said “I am too old and too tired to deal with this. Let me go be with my Lord”.
Maybelle’s legacy lives with the strength of her granddaughter. On her deathbed she told her granddaughter what a wonderful Mother that she would be. Of course her prediction was true. Her granddaughter is the type of Mom that Maybelle would approve of. In fact I know that she looks down and smiles every day when she sees what a great job her granddaughter is doing.
What I have written is based on stories I have heard about this phenomenal woman. Any factual inaccuracies are mine and mine alone. However, facts aside I do know that Ms Loftin was a loving caring woman who had a great influence on all who would listen to her.
I am proud that my first walk was in her honor.

Jox Sox

Part of the "tools of the trade" for long distance walkers. Note that we need instructions.........
Now I wonder which one I should move first. There is an addition I couldn't catch. I have 4 pair and each sock is numbered as to make sure they wear equally. Please send me the number to a good shrink.

Saturday

12 mile training walk. 85 degree temp. 100 % humidity.

I am pumped and primed!! What a great way to start the weekend. Knowing that all I have to do is walk and I can possibly help prevent just ONE woman from facing breast cancer!! This is awesome.
Now this walk did produce some interesting sights. It seems that part of my path was down what we used to call "lovers' lane". Well friends, things must have changed since I was a lad (long long time ago) but when we left the lane we didn't leave our underthings behind. I might say though if she could fill the cups that she did leave behind that she should be very proud and he should consider himself very lucky indeed.
Guys, this is all about celebrating life. I hope that young lady never has to hear the words "you have a lump". And if she does I hope it is followed by "but we have a cure".
That is what we are walking for. A CURE!!!
I really do appreciate yall's support so far but we still have a way to go. October will be here before we know it so I beg of you not to put this off any longer. Please Please Please go to my Donate Here button and help me. If the link does not work, let me know and I will give you specific directions to the site.'
Wouldn't it be nice if all of the little girls born this day would not have to face breast cancer themselves or in their Moms? We can make that happen.

Hands

There are hands beg and hands that give. I beg, you give. Thanks for your support

Mind Your Step

A couple of weeks ago I was in an historic port town. They have "renovated" the old area for the tourists. Well that is all well and good but when I am out on a morning walk (in the dark dodging homeless people) those cobblestone sidewalks can be a pain in the ankles.
Oct 19 is coming up fast. Give till it feels good at my Donate Here link. If it is down, let me know and I will pass on another path.

Well That Sucked!!

Cruising around today and thought for grins that I would check my Donate Here link. Well guess what, IT WAS BROKE!!!!!
SO
I gathered all of my skills and fixed it (at least it looks fixed to me). Why don't you try it out to see if it works? I would appreciate it.

Time is growing short. The feet and the legs are doing OK. Just need more $$.

Give til it feels good. Thanks
